Sarah Ann Smith
Sarah is having a *really* good year! Her book, ThreadWork Unraveled, about using thread for applique, free-motion and decorative stitching, and quilting, is now available from Sarah (at www.sarahannsmith.com/store.php ) , AQS, and your local quilt store or favorite online quilt store. She is also a columnist for Machine Quilting Unlimited magazine (www.mqumag.com) and is teaching at Houston for the first time. Next year she'll be at the National Quilt Association show and select guilds, and is booking for 2011 (!).
Astonishingly, she has also won a prize at International Quilt Festival in Houston for a small art quilt, Fields of Gold! It is her first major/national-level award, and she is thrilled! Now, if she could just find the 37 hour day, she could make more art and quilts, do less "business", and sleep. Best of all, she still lives in Maine with her husband, two kids, and assorted generators-of-fur-dust. And oh... a winning lottery ticket so I could buy not one but TWO new sewing machines would be just ducky!
