Running: Time as Process
|
|
Statement |
|
Creating an earlier series (CAVE
WALLS) on washed canvas left me with a large pile of trimmings, most
with a soft frayed edge that I found appealing. I machine pieced these
strips together, some with seams on the "right" side, some
on the other, hand embroidered, cut into and reverse appliquéd
using painted fabric (the circles in each corner signify phases of the
moon), hand quilted and finally, sewed with a bead on each dot; a very
time intensive process, filling the "running " figure. In
short, I was employing many processes and letting them all show us a
way of acknowledging and recording TIME.
