"Moon Mother"

My self portrait emerged from a discussion on the QuiltArt list about the roles of women. In my tradition, the Goddess has three aspects: Maiden, Mother and Crone. I have placed myself in front of the full moon, which is symbolic of the Mother aspect. The flowers and foliage represent the ever repeating seasonal cycles. The face was drawn with a Pigma marker
and painted with acrylics. I used hand and machine applique and hand and machine quilting.
