"It's a Matter of Perspective"

Ann Starr

The original design for this piece came to me during a creative exercise   in a "Recognizing the Sacred in Anger" workshop. In that design, the red-yellow-orange flame, representing anger, overwhelmed the piece. When this challenge came up, I went back to the design and modified it to more accurately portray how anger has become more integrated into the whole of my self. The other colors, shapes and stitching represent other aspects of my life. My love of gardening and water, my need to have rules to follow, my belief that the soul is pure and must be protected and my integrity. There are some hard, controlled sides, as well as more flowing, easy-going sides shown to the world which is depicted by the border.
