Our quilt is based on a photo taken by Stephen Rothfeld from the "Under the Tuscan Sun" 1999 Calendar.

In January 1999, KellySim@aol.com issued a "slice" challenge to the QuiltArt members. A group of 20 women from around the U.S. and Canada responded to the challenge.

The photo was selected and sliced into 20 equal pieces. A 4-month time frame was given to complete a 15" x 18" quilted slice. Hand or machine piecing/applique/quilting, embellishment, painting, any and/or all types of fabric were encouraged. Individual style, interpretation, and techniques come together for a unique quilt.

It is our goal to ultimately sell this quilt to benefit breast cancer research in honor of one of our member's breast cancer battle.
