The QuiltArt discussion that brough about this quilt centered on how our mothers/grandmothers organized their time, often as precise as knowing which day they would be washing, which day gardening, etc. Looking back, I remember Saturdays most clearly, perhaps because my mother worked during the week. When the weather was nice, she was either gardening or washing windows. In the evening, she and my dad loved getting together with friends for a game of canasta. I have tried to place her in her time: picture windows, pedal pushers, wearing Dad's shirt and dusting the roses.

These are my memories from my early teen years, near the age my daughters are now. I wonder what they'll remember of me during this time? All of these I think: gardening and quilting, making wine and hunting for wild mushrooms, time spent with cyper friends on QuiltArt and real friends at the ocean.
