Maxine Farkas and Sandra Sider have selected the quilts for the premier exhibition of Quilt 21: American Art Quilts for the 21st Century. This collection will travel in its entirety from January of 2001 through the summer of 2002. Forty-two pieces were chosen, by 43 artists from 21 states.
Quilt 21 is publishing a color catalogue with each work illustrated on a separate page, essays on art quilts by Maxine and Sandra, and a foreword by Hilary Morrow Fletcher. Please contact Maxine if you would like to receive information on purchasing the catalogue, which will be available at the opening.
We are proud to present the individuals who will be exhibiting their work in Quilt 21. There was a reception, curatorial lecture, and awards ceremony on August 19, 2000, at the Brush Art Gallery and Studios in Lowell, Massachusetts, during the Lowell Quilt Festival. Quilt 21 will be open for public view as of August 13. See photos from the opening celebration.
BERNINA OF AMERICA is the exclusive sponsor of the Quilt 21/2000 national tour.
