Names are just any of 26 letters arranged in different orders, but for each of us, our names represent the sacred essence of who we are. This challenge started when a movie, "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," came out. On the movie's webpage was a name generator which would create a "Ya-Ya name" from your own name. People began to christen themselves with their new Ya-Ya names, and then others followed up with names that represented their alter egos. On the tail end of all that, others came in wanting to make challenges of their real names. Thus was "The Name of the Game" challenge was born. Rules were simple and basically meaningless for those who require rules to create: No larger than 36" in any direction. The first deadline was November 15 for those who were not making quilts for the Houston show, and December 1 for those who were. The whole purpose of this challenge was to just have fun! Let the Names begin!

This is my "Essence of Me" doll. I made her using a pattern from Soft Dolls and Animals magaine. The pattern was created by Sue Hinson and the Looking Glass Doll Club. I have included both open and closed shots since the doll does open up to reveal who I really am inside.
