| Artist Statement | The original
inspiration for this quilt came from real cities where I have lived
: Ibadan and Lagos (Nigeria),
New York, New York, Kathamandu (Nepal), Beijing (China) and
Florence (Italy). The individual cities depicted evolved to include
cities of the imagination. The cities are
separated with strips
of color, which are linked with squares depicting computer circuitry, this
is the fabric which borders and unites the quilt as a whole. The title
of the quilt
pays homage to Buckminster Fuller's concept of a "global village". |
