Techniques Used:

I used Osnaburg for the background, pastels for the 'coloring', hand embroidery stitches, machine-made lace, silk dupioni , machine and hand quilting. Machine embroidered butterflies.

Artist Statement:

My inspiration came from watching a gymnastic move not prove successful, the hopeful participant rose to the challenge and continued doing her best. After the devastation of the 'Elements" -- particularly 'Water' and 'Fire' on the 'Earth' itself and the 'Air' quality, somehow a 'Rebirth' happens, life begins anew and rises to the challenge of again beautifying the earth we love so dear.
