Techniques Used:
Yellowstone landscape was laid out and threadpainted. Then I cut the whole thing apart to add the sheer organza strips to symbolize the fires which was new for me — it's scary to cut apart an essentially finished piece!
Artist Statement:
After visiting Yellowstone National Park and seeing the regeneration of the forests after the devastating fires and then working on this journal quilt, it made me think about the wonders of nature and how the forces of earth, water, air and fire can be both good and evil.
