Artist Statement:
I wanted to show the movement of AIR. The jet stream maps are much more interesting graphically to me than wind current maps. I took this jet stream forecast map from the National Weather Service web site. The design of this quilt is an accurate representation of the jet stream over the western part of the United States. The area starts at the San Francisco Bay Area, where I live, and includes Texas and Houston, where I had hoped this quilt would have gone!
