Statement

Purple bearded irises were a highlight of our garden at The Terraces in Charleston, WV.  As it became clear that we would be moving to Wisconsin to be near children in our retirement, we would bring plant materials during early visits to create a West Virginia plant nursery in our daughter Teresa’s yard.  Later, after we moved north, we transplanted the plants, including the irises, to our yard.  In Charleston, the irises were our daughter Anne’s favorite.  This quilt is dedicated to her.

From the Quiltart List, I learned to try new techniques, especially painting.  The group gave me courage to try.  In this work, I used acrylics, watercolors, and colored pencil.
