I hand painted the car and child on PFD fabric, then appliqued them to collaged (mostly Porsche) car advertisements. Machine appliqued and quilted.
Statement
Our grandson, Tico, went through a stage of pushing things, including the Porsche. This day, his Dad had dressed his hair in a Mohawk, and we found him determinedly pushing the Porsche, obviously with a future racetrack career in mind. From QuiltArt came the idea for the background - not the garage, or the street, but racecars collaged and seen through a sheer dimly. It's not so much the technique, as the urge to do more with the piece than portray a moment in time, to make it speak of the motivation behind the moment.
