Quiltart Quinceanero: Lisa Broberg Quintana

Lisa Broberg Quintana
Troy, Ohio, USA
15" x 15"

Snow dyed and rust dyed fabric, onion bag mesh, netting with holographic dots, hands drawn with Inktense pencils, and antique and vintage quilt squares. Hand and fusible applique.  Machine quilted.

I have only been a follower of Quiltart for about 2 years, so I'm a relative newbie.  I used snow dyed and rust dyed fabrics, both of which I learned about from the Quiltart list.  I also learned about Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils here, which I used for the hands holding the "globe."

My quilt represents the gift of the quilting world to all of those on the net (represented by the netting of the onion bag).  I used antique and vintage quilting blocks from the 1910s and 1950s  representing traditional quilting .   I cut up and re-pieced to make the continents on the world..  Rest assured, these blocks were badly hand pieced or were just pieces, not real blocks.

From the opened world, out springs a quilting muse to inspire and challenge us to fly.
