Quiltart Quinceanero: Gerrie Congdon

Gerrie Congdon
Portland, Oregon, USA
15" x 15"

Fused, machine quilted, embellished with pearl beads, hand-dyed cotton, and commercial batiks.

I joined the quilt art list about 10 years ago. It was the perfect venue for a new art quilter. I thought of the helping hands over the 15 years. I  cut hands from a rainbow of batiks to represent those who helped me. There are 15 hands and the rainbow of colors represents the diversity of our group. While working on the piece, I realized that my QA friends had been dispensing "Pearls of Wisdom." You can ask this list anything from medical advice to basic quilting to art elements to critique my quilt, and you will always find pearls of wisdom amongst the responses.

Congratulations to Judy and to all the QA members who have enriched my life.
