I'm a relatively new member of Quiltart and also new to the world of art quilting. At the beginning of 2010, there was much discussion revolving around a word choice to guide members in their art pursuits throughout the year. I chose the word "explore" as an incentive to try various techniques with which I might not be familiar. In addition, there was much discussion about snow dyeing. Given the record snowfalls we have this year, I couldn't resist coloring up the upstairs bathroom.

Along with the choice of the word "explore" a detective immediately came to mind. And the idea of a detective with a magnifying glass looking closely at snowflakes injected a bit of humor into the subject.
Many thanks for offering this challenge. It is the first of any kind I have ever participated in and it was lots of fun. Especially given that most of the work was done at a mini-retreat with my guild, traditional quilters to the end. they all got a chuckle and were most impressed that I was working from my head and not from a pattern.
